Police: Alcohol involved in Encino solo crash that leaves two critical

Source: Daily News, Los AngelesDec.迷你倉西貢 17--Alcohol was involved in a solo car crash early Sunday that left a driver and his passenger in critical condition after their car lost control and collided with a brick planter at an Encino church, police said Monday. While speed was "the main contributing factor," the smell of alcohol was noticed on the driver, and investigators are still determining what role it played in the crash, LAPD Detective Doug Larkin said."At this point, we're considering charges if he pulls through but ... it's up to the District Attorney's Office about what charges, if any, are appropriate," Larkin said, noting that the driver could potentially be charged with a felony count of reckless driving causing injury or a felony DUI.At about 2 a.m. Sunday, a 2003 Toyota Corolla driven by a 27-year-old man, a North Hollywood resident, was traveling east on Ventura Boulevard approaching White Oak Avenue, when the driver lost control and hit a flower planter on the property of Our Lady of Grace Parish. Both the driver and the female passenger, 24, also of North Hollywood, were taken to local hospitals and remained in critical condition迷你倉將軍澳Monday, Larkin said."He was driving more than likely two times the speed limit," Larkin said. "There were no other cars that were near them or going in the same direction or anything like that. He lost control, ran off the road, actually came very close to hitting a street light and a bus stop -- he missed both of those ... He ultimately came to rest on the wall."Pastor Jay Cunnane said a number of bricks were loosened on the planter, which he estimated to be about 100 feet from where the car entered the property."It would be a bad collision for the car. I could see that," Cunnane said. "It takes some force to loosen up all the bricks, but (the damage to the planter) is not hugely extensive."The car sustained major damage to the front end, to the engine and the passenger compartment, Larkin said. An empty car seat was found in the backseat, but there was no baby in the vehicle at the time.Officials declined to release the name of the driver, as he has not been arrested, or his passenger.Copyright: ___ (c)2013 the Daily News (Los Angeles) Visit the Daily News (Los Angeles) at .dailynews.com Distributed by MCT Information Services迷你倉尖沙咀
